BLOG TOUR, BOOK REVIEW - Whispers In The Wine Cellar by Keeley Webb

Edward is a trained florist, he loves and admires pretty things. On the surface he is handsome, charismatic and charming but underneath lurks a dark and sinister side.

Edward has a secret that he keeps bound to beds in a wine cellar, his collection, his girls, waiting for him to break them and bend them to his will. And if one of them refuses to comply, he knows that it won't take long for him to find a replacement.

He believes that he is invincible but he hasn't accounted for a dedicated, tenacious DCI and the friends and families of the missing girls who are determined to uncover what has happened to them. Will they be able to uncover the truth before time runs out for the girls in the wine cellar?

This chilling thriller was voiced from the perspectives of numerous characters including Edward, his long suffering wife Andrea, his prisoners before and during their captivity and DCI Carver. The two main male characters were poles apart personality wise, the DCI was a dedicated, caring, likeable character whilst Edward was a obnoxious, opinionated, narcissistic bully who did surprisingly have one redeemable quality but that wasn't enough to make him likeable. His parts of the story were quite uncomfortable to read at times and his disregard for his fellow humans was spine chilling. I thought that Emma and Josh were wonderful characters, I had mixed feelings about Angela for most of the book and loved the diverse, feisty personalities of Edward's captives who's only mistake had been to interact with the wrong man. Not all handsome, charming men are trustworthy, they had obviously completely forgotten about a certain Ted Bundy.

Although I did find this book uncomfortable to read at times, I wouldn't say that it was overly graphic. It was a gripping, chilling page turner, the intensity increased as the story unfolded and it had a wonderful moment of poetic justice. The realistic characters were a mixed bag of likeable and unlikable individuals. I did enjoy this thriller and look forward to reading more of this author's books in the future.
