Book Description:
The Island of dark secrets lies close to Maui. Few have ventured there, fewer have returned.
With a map in hand, extreme-sports enthusiasts, Kyle and Donna, descend to the depths of the Pacific Ocean in search of treasure. Will they find it? And will they survive?
Peering eyes are everywhere, lurking and in wait, ready to take back what's theirs.
Some things are better left buried.

I know that they say love can cause blindness but I haven't ever heard anyone say that it also causes stupidity as well. But it must do in some cases because that is the only reason that I could think of to explain why Kyle stayed with Donna apart from the copious amounts of sex they had at every opportunity. You could tell from the start of the story that they were in a toxic relationship and from the moment that Donna was introduced into the story, I can honestly say, I didn't like her and that sentiment didn't change once as the story unfolded. I really liked Kyle and Jex, the big, loveable lummox who was actually far more intelligent than he appeared to be. Talking of appearances being deceptive, that statement could also be applied to many of the secondary characters who appeared in this thriller. You could say that this story had two halves, in the first half we follow the players as they are all manouvered like chess pieces into their allocated positions. Then it is in the second half after Kyle and Donna reach the island that the brown stuff hits the fan, the action hits top gear and they swiftly discover that below all the beauty on the surface there lurks a evil underbelly. And their trip to paradise turns into a life threatening, deadly game of murder, greed, missing children, deception and betrayals.
Mystery Island is a thrilling adventure that has all the elements that a reader what's to find in a action thriller. It has two likeable heroes, vicious baddies, guns, danger, intrigue and a added dash of laugh out loud humour. The settings were beautifully described, I loved the scenes under the sea, the constant sense of danger hiding within the beautiful and tranquil depths of the sea water. I really enjoyed this gripping thriller and would happily read more of this author's books in the future.
