Since the death of his wife two years ago Ben has been doing his best to raise his two young sons.Life isn't easy but with the help of his devoted mother Judi, they manage.
Then Ben meets Amber, everyone thinks that Amber is perfect for Ben but Judi isn't so sure - there is something about Amber that doesn't add up.
The further Judi delves into Ambers personal life, the closer she gets to shocking secrets that could change everything.
This thought provoking thriller is mainly told from Judi`s point of view but occasionally there where also chapters that where voiced by Amber. Both women where obviously deeply flawed mentally and it was fun to witness their confrontations and the cat and mouse game they played as they tried to outwit each other.Using the menopause as a plot device was a ingenious way of casting doubt on Judi`s version of events and making the reader think that it was all in her head. All the characters in this entertaining story where realistic and believable but not very likeable apart from Ben`s young boys Noah and Josh and another character called Fiona Binder.I would have liked to have read some chapters that where voiced from Ben`s perspective,it would have been interesting to know his thoughts on the two women who's thumb prints where firmly stamped on his head.
Although I wasnt drawn into the story like I was whilst I was reading Blink I did enjoy this book. There was a couple of unexpected twists and some of the issues raised would probably result in some very interesting discussions if this book was read by a book group.
Many thanks to Bookouture for a arc of this book via netgalley in exchange for a honest review
