                                                                 Synopsis

Gerald Longman stumbles into the Nitmiluk Park Centre, absolutely terrified and informs Chief Park Ranger Peter Cunningham that his wife Amanda Longman had been swimming in the water at the edge of Butterfly Gorge when she was attacked and dragged away by a crocodile.

At first Peter is sceptical about Gerald`s story but the more that Gerald reveals, the more Peter starts to believe the poor man`s tale.

With the dry season due to start in two weeks, which will mean a influx of tourists and loads of activity on the water, the last thing the park needs is a man eating crocodile prowling around and terrorizing the tourists,So Peter contacts fellow ranger and croc surveyor Tony Yurmikmik and they organise a hunt for the deadly creature.

But is Gerald telling the truth?,where is Amanda?and who is the mysterious woman at the bus stop?

                                                               My thoughts

This is short, snappy, gripping story that plunges the reader into the action from the very first page. The descriptions of where the story is set are absolutely stunning from the gorgeous sounding Butterfly Gorge to the late night search through the mangroves for the killer crocodile. There was also some very interesting facts about crocodiles but not so much that it felt like padding and ruined the story.

This is a gripping short story, the characters are realistic, there was a couple of laugh out loud moments, the crocodile hunt was rather intense and gripping and there was a unexpected twist near the end that I didn't see coming.I thoroughly enjoyed this short story and would happily read more books by this author in the future.

This gripping short story is available as a free book but only if you sign up for Nick Louth`s newsletter
