Publication Day Push Review : Black Matter by G.D.Parker

Today it is my pleasure to take part in the Publication day push for terrifying debut thriller Black Matter by G.D.Parker. Many thanks to Rachel Gibley of Rachel's Random Resources for the opportunity to help spread the word about this fast paced, gripping thriller.

Imagine if a complete stranger could take control of your mind and body and make you commit heinous crimes. Crimes that you have no memory of committing but no one will believe you because all the evidence points towards you and mind control only happens in books and films. It could never happen in reality....right

Getting the Inter-body Profiling Examination Application (IPEA) implant was supposed to enhance Tommy McGregor's health and wellbeing. Make him healthier, better looking and live forever. But instead he had swiftly found himself losing his girlfriend, his job and a man on the run.

DI Valentina and her partner DS Roberts find themselves investigating a complex case where nothing is what it appears. The hunt is for a dangerous psychopath, hiding behind a digital mask, a killer who is prepared to go to any lengths to implement their twisted plan.

This enthralling, terrifying thriller is set in South Wales and voiced from several different perspectives including Tommy and DI Valentine. There was quite a few chapters where the main voice changed a number of times but the story always flowed nicely and was easy to follow. The occasional technical elements weren't overly descriptive or difficult for techno fobes like me to understand. Considering the technical advances that happen almost everyday, the plot of this book is scarily believable and realistic.

I love a book that plays with my emotions,I want to feel something about the characters and that is definitely what happened whilst I was reading this fast paced thriller. There was characters I liked, disliked, felt anxious about, empathised with, changed my mind about and just plain gave me the creeps. There was twists and turns, heart pounding action, deception, manipulation and a couple of scenes that almost reduced me to tears.Once I started reading this book,I didn't want to put it down,I was 100% hooked in from the first page, totally entranced by the author's mesmerising words. I absolutely loved this thriller which is the first book in a trilogy and I can't wait to find out what happens in book 2
