Good grief - There was more acts of infidelity and secrets in this book than there was in all eight seasons of Game Of Thrones. Ok,that was a tiny bit of a exaggeration but many of the characters in this complex tale of relashionships were cheats and liars.
Patricia and her Air France pilot husband Jacque have been for ten years. Unbeknownst to Patricia, her beloved husband has also been having an affair for many years. When Jacque's dead body is discovered in a hotel room and then a mysterious woman visits his grave on the day of his funeral,Patricia begins to suspect that Jacque has been keeping secrets from her.
Although she is still struggling to deal with her grief over her husband's death and that he appears to have been deceiving her for years. Patricia is determined to uncover the truth,no matter how painful the answers may be.
The cover of this book leads the reader to believe that you are going to find yourself reading a psychological thriller but there are no twists, characters in danger or mysteries in this book. It's a story about consequences, secrets, grief, sibling rivalries, relashionships and misconceptions. It's the tale of how the actions of one person can create ripples that can have consequences for many others. Just like a pebble thrown into the sea causes ripples that spread across the smooth surface of the water. It did take me a while to settle into this story due to there being so many different characters and relashionships that the reader has to her acquainted with. The characters in this book were a mixed bag of diverse personalities, some likeable, some not so likeable. I would go as far to say that two of them were truly despicable. The author's depictions of Patrcia's struggles with her grief were realistic and some of the statements she had Patricia saying were beautiful and very moving
Every so often a book comes along that you really enjoy although you can't honestly explain why,for me,this was one of those books. I'm a avid crime fan and to be honest I normally would have given up on this type of book. But I found myself totally enthralled by the character's compelling stories and was genuinely surprised how much I enjoyed this book.
