BLOG TOUR, BOOK REVIEW - Missing by A.D.Hay

Meet James Lalonde, he is chief editor of a small newspaper and lives for his job but it's not exactly captivating work and he is bored. He misses the thrill he got from chasing a bit story.

But all that is about to change.

After his long term girlfriend and journalist Valentine leaves him and the next morning he fails to reallocate her story,he decides that he is going to write the story of the local museums latest acquisition.....Excalibur

But when he arrives at the apartment building where Valentine was scheduled to interview Elizabeth Carmichael, he discovers that Elizabeth's apartment is a crime scene, there is a dead body and the famous sword is missing.

When he starts digging deeper, James finds himself caught up in a tangled web of betrayal, kidnapping and murder and attracting the attention of some very dangerous people. People who are prepared to go to any lengths to achieve their goals.

This is a fast paced, gripping mystery /thriller that is apparently the first in a brand new series featuring a investigative journalist who has a nose for trouble. James was a likeable character who had a serious stubborn streak and the gift of the gab. Although this is the first book in the series, the author had written it as if some of the characters had interacted before so the book wasn't padded out with long winded character introductions that bogged down the story. I loved James's interactions with Pc David Chan and it looks like his working relationship with DCI Anwar Khan is going to be rather tumultuous to say the least. This is a Novella and therefore doesn't have many characters but the characters who did feature were well rounded and believable, quite a few of whom were not who they appeared to be.

This book has everything that a thriller fanatic wants in a story, twists and turns, danger moments, sinister villains ,a likeable hero, damsels in distress and an intriguing story that holds the reader's attention throughout. I really really enjoyed this thrilling read and look forward to reading more of James's adventures in the future.
