BOOK DESCRIPTION
Tim, Rose, Will, and Belle lived a charmed childhood growing up together on idyllic Bluebell Farm, but everything changed when their mother died. Sixteen years on, they’re practically strangers.
An unexpected invitation from their estranged father brings them back together giving them an opportunity to heal past wounds and start afresh.
But when Frank is found dead on the morning of his wedding, suspicion turns to the four siblings’ motivations, and the bad blood of the past resurfaces.
This enthralling of siblings, relationships and families is essentially written in four parts that are set before, during and after the fateful wedding. The story opens with a few pages during which each of the siblings receives a phone call informing them that their father Frank has dead. Then it slips back three months in time and we are taken through the trials and tribulations of Tim,Rose,Will and Belle's everyday lives. We learn that each siblings life is blighted by realistic issues including troubled relationships, financial worries and dissatisfaction with the hand that life had dealt them. When they were younger, the quartet used to be very close but they grew apart after their lives went in different directions and some of them are not happy when fate decides to reunite them by having their estranged father invite them to his wedding to the not so very lovely Linda. As the story unfolds,we discover just how volatile the relationship between the siblings is and how some of them are more willing to reconnect and help each other out than others. We also learn that each of them has their own personal reason and possible motive for wanting their father out of the picture.
After Frank's death, the siblings are interviewed by the police, their already shaky relationships are pushed to the limit and secrets and lies are revealed. In the aftermath of their father's death, the siblings lives are changed forever in different ways. But was one or more of them involved in their father's death? after all some people are prepared to do anything when money is concerned. What about cold and hostile Linda, was she gold digger that Tim suspected she was or was he just worried about losing what he saw as his rightful inheritance?
This is a very well written, captivating, character driven story that had a cast of believable, realistic individuals, some likeable, some not so likeable. There was a character that I spent almost the entire book disliking but I surprisingly found myself changing my opinion of by the end of the story. I thought this was a very enjoyable, enthralling read and I would happily read more of this author's books in the future.
