BOOK DESCRIPTION
Just four words were printed in the card. He doesn’t love you.
I’ve been dreaming about this day – marrying Adam, my childhood sweetheart, who I’ve loved for eighteen years.
I didn’t realise the perfect day would turn into the perfect nightmare.
I was so excited to send out the wedding invitations, carefully writing everyone’s names on thick cream paper in beautiful cursive script.
I had no idea I was inviting someone to destroy our marriage.
I couldn’t wait to say ‘I do’ surrounded by loved ones clinking champagne glasses.
I couldn’t imagine that one of them would try to hurt me.
It was meant to be the first day of the rest of our lives.
I never thought it would be the end of my life as I knew it.
We were meant to share our vows, to toast our future. But when the truth comes out, shocking the onlooking guests and ripping my heart out, is a happy ever after possible?
A completely gripping and totally addictive read that will get your blood pressure rising and send shivers down your spine. Fans of Date Night, The Sister-in-Law and The Girl on the Train will devour this twisty, dark and gasp-worthy page-turner in one swift gulp!

The chapters of this gripping thriller were written in short, snappy chapters that alternated between the perspectives of Lauren, who worked shifts in the A&E department of a hospital and Adam, who was a GP. After opening with a breath taking prologue, the story slips back to three months before the wedding and we are taken through some of Lauren's backstory. We learn that she carries around feelings of guilt over the deaths of her parents in a tragic accident, eighteen years ago whilst Lauren and her family were on holiday in Thailand with Adam and his family. Then Lauren recieves the card containing the shocking message that will plunge her perfect life into a nightmare of anxiety, paranoia and doubt. As the campaign against her intensifies, Lauren and the reader have no idea who she can trust, is Adam cheating on her? What is the significance behind the mysterious, sinister dolls? Why is she plagued by feelings of guilt all these years after her parent's deaths? Lauren and her older sister Tracey had been really close when they were older, what had caused the rift that had torn their relationship apart?
Meanwhile Adam was dealing with his own issue in the shape of a patient who had got it into her head that she and Adam were involved in a romantic relationship. But did she have a legitimate reason for feeling that way? Had Adam been breaking the doctor's oath and placing his personal thermometer in places he shouldn't have been? Was his friendship with his bff Kiera as platonic as they insisted it was? Adam appeared to be a really likeable individual but deception wears many faces, did he truly love Lauren or was he just playing her like a violin?
Interspersed throughout the book was chapters that were set in 2001, narrated from Adam's perspective and took the reader through some of the events that happened on the fateful holiday in Thailand when Lauren lost her parents. But how did those parts of the story fit into what was happening in the present day?
Oh boy, this is a very well written, intricately plotted, gripping thriller that had more twists and turns than a roller coaster. There was multiple suspects who could have been behind the campaign against Lauren. I was very certain that I had figured out who it was and I was very pleased when the truth was revealed and I learned that I was wrong. A very enjoyable, entertaining read and very very highly recommended.
