BLOGTOUR, BOOK REVIEW - Every Little Lie by Lesley Sanderson

                                                                    BOOK SYNOPSIS

Lie #1 was to my new friends, about why I moved here.
Lie #2 was to my husband, about who I was before I met him.
Lie #3 was to myself, that I would get away with what I’ve done.

When I met Seb, it was like everything fell into place. My daughter Evie finally had a proper dad, and I had found the husband of my dreams – and what Seb didn’t know about my past wouldn’t hurt him.

But lately he’s been acting strangely. He won’t look me in the eye, he keeps coming home late and the other day at the school fair I saw him arguing with an unknown woman – the same woman I’ve seen hanging around outside our house.

And just as I start wondering whether I’m not the only one with a secret, Evie goes missing…

This gripping Domestic drama opens with a chilling prologue which is voiced from the perspective of the stories antagonist, then we are introduced to Anna, her husband Seb and their adorable four year old daughter Evie. As the saying goes Anna has her fingers in many pies, she runs her own business from home making clothes for young children and coordinates the neighbour watch scheme. As the story unfolds, it soon becomes apparent that Anna has a bit of an obsession with security and is very protective of her young daughter, she even refused to permit Evie to have a sleepover at Seb's mother Marion's house something that was a bone of contention between the couple. Anna appeared to have a perfect life, handsome, loving husband, cute daughter and close group of friends but she is about to discover that someone has been watching her perfect little family. Someone who knows that both Anna and Seb have been harbouring secrets and is determined to destroy their picture of perfection. Their campaign begins with intimidating phone calls which ramp up Anna's feelings of fear, paranoia and anxiety and then whilst little Evie mysteriously disappears. Who would kidnap a innocent child and why? Why is Anna so reluctant about informing the police? Why is Seb acting so strangely and what secrets are the couple keeping from each other?

The chapters start off alternating between Anna and Seb, then the story slips back in time and we are taken through events from the past as they are narrated from the perspective of he antagonist. Then the two times frames converge and the story continues in the present day and is voiced from the perspectives of the three main characters as it builds in intensity and rockets to its gripping and suspenseful conclusion. There are very often times in life when it is far too easy to allow our hearts to overrule our heads and cause up to do things which are out of character and possibly morally wrong. I can't say that I thought any of the main trio of characters were very likeable and the kidnapping of a child is definitely wrong on so many levels but was it wrong of me to feel bad about judging one of the character's actions too harshly? They had been through a number of traumatic experiences which could have affected their mental health so was if wrong to me to feel a tiny bit of sympathy for that person? My heart went out to poor innocent little Evie who found herself caught up in a terrifying nightmare due to the actions of the people who she was supposed to rely upon to keep her safe from harm.

As readers have learned to expect from this very talented author's thrillers this is a extremely well written, addictive story that captivates the reader from the first page. The author skilfully draws you into her realistic characters fictional world, causing you to experience a wide range of conflicting emotions as the thrilling story unfolds before your eyes. Another incredible addition to this author's impressive catalogue of thrillers and very very highly recommended.
