Blog Tour, Book Review : Into The Silent Sea by Claire Stibbe

Firstly,I would like to sincerely thank the author for sending me a copy of this book and Anne Carter for giving me the opportunity to take part in the Blog tour

When I read the synopsis for this book, it reminded me of Fay Weldon's The Life And Times Of A She Devil,i was so intrigued and couldn't wait to find out how the story was going to unfold. After Clodagh Shepherd's violent bully of a husband Ryan forces her to sign divorce papers and then disappears,Clo makes a impulsive decision. She already knew that Ryan was having an affair with beautiful Marion kurchell, so Clo changes her appearance and takes a job as Ryan mistress's home help. She plans to befriend Marion, kill her and then maybe take over the ownership of Marion's beautiful home. Only, you know what they say about the best laid plans, not long after implementing her plan, Col discovers that Marion's Life isn't as perfect as it appears. The idyllic facade of Hampton's life hides a terrifying secret - a secret someone will kill to keep.

Voiced entirely by Clo and written in short, snappy chapters, most of which end on a cliff hanger and give the reader a very very bad case of Just one more chapter syndrome. This is a riveting battle of the minds that had me hooked in from the very first page, totally captivated by the authors mesmerising story. I think anyone who has been betrayed by someone they loved would love to get revenge on their love rival in some way. And although I didn't think Col was a very likeable character at times, I also.couldn't help admiring her courage and determination to exact her revenge on the woman who she felt had ruined her life. Although I couldn't for the life of me understand why Col cared so much about her horrible husband.

Apart from one, all the other vivid, well developed characters were untrustworthy, deceitful, twisted, unreliable individuals. One of them was so sinister that person gave me the creeps everytime that person appeared in the story. The descriptions of the settings for this story were stunning, I loved the beautiful house that seemed so idyllic but in reality was hiding more than one sinister secret.

I absolutely loved this amazing thriller and would love to watch a film adaptation of this story. I was so disappointed when I finished the book because I was enjoying so much, I didn't want the story to end. This is the first book that I have read by this author and it most definitely will not be my last. Worth far more than five stars and very highly recommended by little old me.
