BLOG TOUR,BOOK REVIEW - Behind Closed Doors by Sadie Ryan

Tina Valentine has it all,the loving family, the beautiful householder and it is looking like she is going to be made a partner at the law firm where she works.

But then Morgan Pearson starts work at Tina`s law firm and with her arrival,Tina`s perfect world starts to collapse faster than a tower of cards. From their very first encounter Tina detects waves of animosity radiating from Morgan and aimed fully in Tina`s direction.

Something is very wrong with Morgan but Tina seems to be the only person who can see it,everyone else in her life seem to have fallen under Morgan`s alluring spell including Tina`s husband Guy. As the strange events, mind games and manipulations intensify and Morgan continues to infiltrate every aspect of her life,Tina comes to the sickening conclusion that now that Morgan is in her life,it's going to be impossible to make her leave.

This gripping game of cat and mouse is narrated entirely from Tina's point of view, she was a complex, flawed character who I didn't think was very likeable for various reasons and struggled to form any connection with despite the fact that like me,she was a mother. Actually I wouldn't say that any of the characters in this story were very likeable apart from Tina and Guy's children. Unfortunately Guy was no support what's so ever,a typical gullible fictional male who prefers to believe in the honesty and integrity of a stranger who has only just became part of their lives as opposed  to the fears and worries of his wife and the mother of his children. There was no chapters that were narrated from Morgan's point of view therefore the reader only had Tina's rather biased opinion on her behaviour and personality and wasn't given the opportunity to form their own opinions. I thought this was very clever because it keeps the reader in the dark about wether she is the twisted manipulator that Tina insists she is. As the story unfolds, the intensity increases and Tina's life crumbles around her,the reader has to figure out who is the puppet master and who is the puppet and who will emerge as the victor in this chilling battle of the minds.

The first chapter of Behind Closed Doors instantly pulls the reader into the story and makes you want to carry on reading. This is a cleverly written, chilling debut domestic drama/thriller that manipulates the reader into believing that they know exactly what is going on and then throws in a jaw dropping final chapter that takes everything you thought you knew, screws it up into a ball and tosses it in the nearest bin. I really enjoyed this scarily realistic thriller and look forward to reading more books written by this talented author in the future.
