PUBLICATION DAY,BLOG TOUR,BOOK REVIEW - Apartment 6 by Stuart James

When Meagan was a young girl, she had witnessed the injuries that her mother had suffered after she had be physically assaulted by Meagan's abusive father.

Now an adult, she herself is the victim of an abusive relationship. Meagan is desperate to escape but can't build up the courage to leave.

Oliver is a decent guy who is on the rebound after a failed relationship. When he accidentally bumps into a beautiful woman at the train station,he is instantly attracted to her and is overjoyed when they strike up a conversation and there is a instant connection.

As time passes, the young woman gradually opens up and tells Oliver about her abusive relationship and then one day she makes a shocking request. And Oliver finds himself travelling down a dark and dangerous path and being pushed to his very limits.

This enthralling thriller opens with a very intense chapter that is set twenty years in the past where we find young Meagan making a terrified call to the emergency services and informing the operator that her mummy wont wake up and that Meagan is scared that the monster is going to come and hurt her next. Throughout most of the book, the chapters alternated between twenty years ago and the present day. In the chapters that were set in the past which were narrated by young Meagan we witness the terrible atmosphere that Meagan grew up in,her dad's content mind games and abuse of her mother. Meagan's mum obviously loved her young daughter and did everything in her power to shield her from the abuse that she was suffering from. We also witnessed Meagan's confusion over what was happening and her heart breaking love for her father despite his despicable behaviour. The chapters that were set in the present day alternated between Meagan and Oliver's perspectives and were my favourite parts of the story. Poor Oliver was a really likeable character who found himself caught up in a situation that swiftly spiralled out of his control. But what had he got himself involved in and was Meagan the innocent victim that she made herself out to be?

Apartment 6 is a extremely well written, enthralling thriller that keeps the reader guessing and frantically turning the pages. The descriptions of abuse were shockingly realistic and quite difficult to read at times. The characters were a diverse, mixed bag of realistic personalities, some likeable, some not so likeable. There was plot twists and turns, people who were not who they appeared to be and a shocking, chilling ending. This is the second book that I have by this obviously very talented author and I look forward to reading more of his books in the future.
